OFFICERS
Co-President: Arjen Aquino | Grade: 12
Hey scholars! Since CSF has guided me through my own high school career in so many ways, I hope to use my position as co-president to inspire other amazing people like you who just might benefit from all the scholarly opportunities CSF has to offer (there are lots!). I am currently a senior and a three-year member of our marching band's drumline. I have a great love for music--listening, performing, and even writing--but I also enjoy some photography and graphic design (like Jen!!). I also like lame puns and rap battles but if my rad skills on the mic don't get me very far, you can guarantee I'll be working towards a college degree somewhere in Southern California instead. During my time with CSF, I've learned a lot about high school, college, and life in general and I hope to help others do the same. So come thru and stop by D-305 sometime!! |
Co-President: Jennifer Nguyen | Grade: 11
Hi, hey, hello! I'm Jennifer and thank you for taking the time to look through our little website! I am super stoked to serve as your 2015-2016 CSF president this year. I can't wait to help you all out on your academic journey! A little bit about me: I am a current junior, I love photography and graphic design (Arjen and I have that in common!), and I'm a part of the school's marching band here. I love comedy, so you'll usually find me playing pranks on people in my spare time. Hot Cheeto Fries are my favorite thing, and basically all my school supplies are from Muji. In the future, I wish to be a Nat Geo photographer, work for Google, or become a billionaire. Whatever comes first for me in my life! I learned so much from my time with CSF over the years, and I hope you'll join me at our meetings! If you see me around school, please don't hesitate to say hello!

Secretary: Emily Luc | Grade: 12
Hello friends! My name is Emily Luc and I am extremely excited to be serving as CSF's secretary for the 2015-2016 school year. I am currently a senior, and CSF has been a wonderful outlet to help guide me through high school. As an underclassman, I was quite lost on what I wanted to do with my life, but CSF lent a helping hand by giving me a whole new perspective of the world through service and scholarship. I hope to inspire people as much as my wise predecessors have inspired me. And to tell you a little bit about myself, I love to volunteer and give back to the community. You can usually find me either at a service event or at home reading a book or daydreaming. If you ever see me wandering around, don't be afraid to say hi!

Treasurer: Crystal Truong | Grade: 11
Hello there scholars! I'm Crystal and also your treasurer for the 2015-2016 term. I am more than excited to work with you all this school year in making CSF even better. This club has helped so much through my academics and opportunities in volunteer work. Along with the team, I hope to bring the same possibilities to all of you. And to get to me know a little more, I enjoy sleeping, shopping, and eating. I also love to watch TV shows and hold on to a great book. Feel free to stop by our meetings at lunch so that I can get to know each and every one of you! Here's to making this year a memorable part of everyone's high school journey!
Publicist: Khanh Dang | Grade: 11
Hello CSF scholars!
My name is Khanh Dang and I am so much more than just simply proud to be your 2015-2016 Publicist! This year, through my position, I hope to be able to widely promote the great things CSF has to offer and to ensure that you will have the greatest CSF experience throughout your years of high school! Honestly speaking, I joined CSF because the word "scholarship " was in the title, and being that asian little girl I just ran towards it! Down the road, I forgot that the word "scholarship " was in the title because I have gotten so much more out of this club than what I had initially anticipated! I had the opportunity to meet, lead, and work with so many great, industrious people! I have been continuously inspired during the events and workshops CSF often offers! There's just so much you gain from this club and I hope that you will also be able to experience what I have! A few fun facts about me are that I tend to watch cooking videos when I can't sleep at night, and that I relieve my stress by painting and attempting other artsy related things! I absolutely love meeting new people and performing acts of service! If you happen to see me wandering somewhere at school, don't be afraid to say "What's up, Khanh!"
BOARD MEMBERS
Jenny Voong | Grade: 12
Hi CSF scholars, I'm Jenny and I'm currently a senior at Independence High School. In the coming 15-16 school year, as a board member, I hope we can work together and create many new memories. I joined CSF when I was a junior and as the year progressed, CSF became one of my favorite clubs on campus. CSF helped me learn to give back to the community as well as learning more about higher education. A little about myself is I play the violin in symphony orchestra, and I really enjoy reading. Also I love to listen to music in my free time. Come drop by our meetings and say hi! Let's start this year right and create happy memories together that will last forever! |
Justin Diec | Grade: 12
Hello Scholars! My name's Justin and I'm happy to be one of your board members this year. I've been a general member since my junior year, and this year I wanted to take it a step further and became a board member so that I can lead you guys into newer, and funner events. CSF has been an important part of my high school life and through this club, I've been able to meet many great people and make great memories during events like Christmas in the Park and The Tech Challenge. So a little bit about myself, I'm a music fanatic especially of EDM and alternative rock. However, I really don't like certain artists like Taylor Swift and Ellie Goulding who obviously can't sing to save their lives (Sorry Josh). Also, I'm usually known as "The Nerd" to my friends because apparently I study 24/7 and ace all my tests. I can describe my daily routine in 3 words: eat, sleep, and game. Anyway, if you guys happen to bump into me, feel free say hi because I'm always down to meet new people! |
Joshua Caballero | Grade: 12
Hey guys! My name is Joshua Caballero and I am really excited to be a board member for CSF. CSF is the only club that I have been in for more than one year. It's the only club that made me feel accepted because people work together and help each other out rather than students not interacting with each other and in their own isolated groups. A little something about me is that I am in LOVE with the best singer in the world, Ellie Goulding. She is so perfect and I can't get enough of her. If any of you guys like her too, tell me and we will be best friends. I can't wait to work with all you! |
Toan Tran | Grade: 11
Hello there! I'm Toan and I am proud to be serving as one of IHS CSF's Board Members for the school year. First of all, thank YOU for taking the time to browse throughout our website and reading our blurbs! So currently I am a junior, I love volunteering, working with arts and crafts, playing tennis, listening to music, and I too am a part of Independence's marching band, along with Arjen, Samantha and Jennifer. One of the things that can spark an explosion of energy from me is my obsession of stationery, especially from stores like Muji! Sometimes, days can be dreadfully long, and dry humor is usually what gets me through them, so that's why TV shows like The Office or Parks and Rec. are on my list of top favorites. I am incredibly grateful for the amazing programs and clubs on Independence's campus such as CSF, because I've been able to find myself more through their service and leadership roles. I don't believe I am an intimidating, unapproachable person, so feel free to meet me, or ask a question if you have any! Let's make this year a great one! |
